Minimalism
Minimalism is an art style that came to be defined by line and shape into squares, rectangles and basic shapes. One of the earliest type would be say the Black Square by Kazimir Malevich in Soviet Russia. Primarily most of the art of this type resides inside the 1960s to 1970s. In my own artwork, I use geometric shapes in Architectural Abstraction and have done some simple versions of the style, but many times its more complex to be strictly defined as minimalism. The public tends to dislike this art movement as it seems to represent absolutely nothing and is highly impersonal. It almost seems to represent the rise of the computer making work less individual and much more conforming with standard programs.
