Surrealism
One of the reactions to World War I was surrealism. It was an exploration of the dream world explored in art. It was very introspective look at why the war happened and combinations of objects that don't go together. One of the primary artists were Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte. Dali dwelved into his sexual repressed nature and Magritte on the nature of what is a painting. By the end of World War II most of the artists moved on to new art movements. In my own Political Pop I mix in imagery to show the deeper truth of life using pop imagery and Hollywood films.
