 Rating: PG-13, Time: 2hr 1min, Director: Ron Howard, Cast on IMDb How well adapted to the book is the movie? I think they stuck very closely to the book plot with much more visualization than the novel. In the beginning sequence they have this long prolonged dreamscape of hell that the lead character Dr. Langdon, played by Tom Hanks is imagining. I think it could have been a bit shorter sequence, but the plot itself doesn't lend itself to as much great scenes as the first novel did. The plot doesn't have as many cool clues as other Dan Brown novels turned into movies or maybe I'm just not as interested in this version. How well do you think the character Sienna played by Felicity Jones was played? It's a very interesting start to the movie as the lead character wakes up in a stupor in a hospital with some type of head injury. Immediately, a killer comes to kill them both and they narrowly escape attack to her apartment. They come closer over time until the final scene. She covers the child prodigy genius turned doctor fairly well and believable. One thing that doesn't make sense is why she decided to use him to uncover the plot of Inferno as she is great at solving puzzles herself. I think this a bit of a plot hole.  What did you think of all the plot twists? Again, following the book they are accurate and drive the interest in the movie as the lead characters are being chased by the police, World Health Organization and others. So they have no idea who to trust as Dr. Langdon starts to unravel the plot of who is behind the Inferno virus and what the clues laid out reveal.  What did you think of Irrfan Khan playing Harry Sims? He has a great talent in India and basically unknown in the West. He had very expressive eyes as one of the top assassin/private security firm he runs. It introduces another wrinkle in the plot of who is behind the chase and which side they play on. I think I would have liked to see him dressed a touch more villainous with cool sunglasses to give more substance to his character. I did like the use of his collection of rare assassin knives to show his character's abilities to kill.  What do you think of Tom Hanks in the lead? I know some fans will disagree, but I think they chose the wrong lead intially. My first pick would have been Ralph Finnes, who played in the "English Patient". Ralph seems professorial while Tom Hanks I keep thinking about Big or Forrest Gump. That being said, he plays the part fairly well with a fair degree of fragility due to just being a professor.  Does any of your art dive into this movie or other Dan Brown books? No, not really, but I do happen to use a lot of symbology in my work. Probably the best example would have been my '500 Soldados" painting seen below. The gold lettering is actually the Mayan date of Hernan Cortez landing in Mexico before taking the Aztec Empire with only 500 men. The skulls are in reference to the skull walls seen at Mayan or Aztec pyramid sites that represent all the victims sacrificed by these tribes to satisfy the corn gods.
