 Rating: PG, Time: 1hr 57min, Director: Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey & Rodney Rothman, Cast on IMDb What did you think of the plot? Well, the movie is a bit wild. Basically, a hole in the universe opens for 5 dimensions and then all these other Spidermen fall into our universe. They all need to join forces to get back to their own universe, plus train the new Spiderman Miles Morales. Miles gains his wings at the very end and goes in to save the day. There are many villains all on the same team, which is very fun. All in all a very busy plot. There was a lot of characters, but it all seems to work out well in the end.  How did you find the multi-verse of Spidermen? I think there may have been one or two too many Spidermen for the movie. Likely, I think they could have really cut a few of them out without an issue. All the versions have a funny side to them, like say black and white Spiderman can't see in color, so can't solve the Rubik Cube at all or a Spider Pig.  What did you think of the special effects in the movie? From the animator style, this is so over the top, every possible style I think is used in the movie: comic strip, scenes that become comic book style, stylized backgrounds, far out and then super close zooms, you name it. I think that it could be toned down and still be successful, but why kill great art. These guys really stretched the medium of an animated movie to the max while still retaining a great, fast moving plot. Hats off to the artists who worked on this and to Sony taking such a massive risk on this stylization of the movie. Make sure to stay to the end if you love visuals for the after shot and even the credits are pretty interesting.  How well balanced was the movie from an adventure vs. tradegy?
The movie introduced some new tragedy beyond the traditional Spiderman universe, so we get caught up in the character of Miles Morales. The tragedy side is just about right to have us really bond to Miles and his struggle with his parents and beginning of love life and finally stepping up to the ultimate responsibility. Can epilipic people see the film? No. There are numerous flashes throughout the film, so they lose out. Maybe the production crew could go over and redo it for an epilipic-free version. I love the version of the effects and stylization of the movie. Sometimes you have to sacrifice a few audiences to get a really get arty film.
